Monty's Men Commemorative Trip to Normandy - June 2016

 

Once again Monty’s Men returned to Normandy, this time portraying troops of the 4th Battalion Welch Regiment as part of the 160th (South Wales) Infantry Brigade of the 53rd (Welch) Infantry Division. As per other Monty's Men trips it was planned as a mix of 'Field Phase' and battlefield tour. However, the change in the EU law regarding the export/import of de-activated weapons put paid to the 'Field Phase' and the carrying of any weapons. Despite that we took an over strength infantry Platoon with Company HQ with three 3 tonnners, a 15cwt Bedford and four jeeps as transport. Whilst not yielding the usual sort of infantry in action pictures, it did test us and produced none the less some interesting pictures.
