Arnhem Bridge Commemorative March - September 2000
This was a commemorative march involving something like ~100 re-enactors retracing the route from the drop zones near Wolfheze to Arnhem Bridge. The route passed through initially wooded countryside that had changed little since 1944. Consequently this provided some excellent photo opportunities on what was our first field trip assignment as AFPU cameramen.
The majority of the chaps are from 1st Airborne Recce. The trip also included visits to the C Troop drop zones around Wolfheze, the bakery in Paul Kruger Straat where much hand to hand fighting took place, the Hartenstein museum and a very memorable and unexpected invitation to visit Kate Ter Horst's house by her daughter and grandson.....a true honour and very humbling.
