Commando Commemorative March from Sword Beach to Pegasus Bridge – June 2002
Portraying No.4 Commando comprising platoon HQ and 2 sections accompanied by 2 AFPU cameramen (Sgt Jeff Ball and Sgt Gary Hughes). This trip was carried out in conjunction with one of the French Living History Groups and was designed to commemorate the push through from the D-Day landings at Sword Beach to Pegasus Bridge by troops of No.4 Commando to relieve the glider borne troops of the Ox & Bucks, who had captured the bridge in the early hours of June 6th 1944.
Portraying elements of No. 4 Commando of the 1st Special Service Brigade as they advanced inland from SWORD beach to the Orne River Canal Bridge (Pegasus Bridge); the march was undertaken with fully packed Bergans and in full kit......not for the feint hearted.
